CUDO Stormwater Management System

SHAPING THE FUTURE OF WATER QUALITY

A new approach to underground stormwater storage, infiltration, treatment, rainwater harvesting, or other stormwater management needs.  Derived from the French “Cube d’eau”, meaning “cube of water”, the CUDO is a modular plastic cube used to construct underground water storage systems.

The unique cube incorporates an arched design that adds structural integrity, increased water storage and enhanced access for inspection and maintenance.  CUDO sets the new standard for stormwater management by incorporating features that are not available with other systems currently on the market.

CUDO is made in the USA using injection molded, recycled, polypropylene plastic.  A single CUDO assembly requires just two modules and two end caps.  CUDO components snap together forming a single or multiple CUDO stack.  Assembled stacks are installed to form the desired CUDO system size and shape, with a maximum amount of footprint flexibility.

Leading Stormwater Management Product Manufacturers in Strategic Alliance

Oct. 20, 2010, Santa Rosa, CA: Americast, Inc. and KriStar Enterprises, Inc. have formed a strategic alliance to manufacture, sell, and service stormwater management products  on both East and West coasts, it was announced today by KriStar President Craig Beatty and Americast President Bill Tichacek. The collaboration between two of the country’s most prominent manufacturers in the industry will allow the companies to provide greater flexibility and design options, yield production efficiency, and enhance customer service.

“This alliance combines the expertise and innovative products of two major forces in the industry,” commented Beatty. “It enables both companies to offer enhanced service by utilizing the strengths of each other’s regional production, marketing and sales capabilities. It also allows each company to provide a more complete product offering, so we can service the complete needs of a project.”

“This is a win for our customers, for both companies, and for the environment,” added Tichacek. “Sourcing products close to the jobsite lowers the environmental impact of shipping, and can help earn a project USGBC LEED points.  It lowers energy consumption and transportation-related emissions, and the whole planet benefits from that.  It seems fitting, since these products focus on the important environmental need to reduce water pollution.”

Americast, based in the mid-Atlantic region, will manufacture, market, sell and service KriStar’s filter product line on the East Coast, including the FloGard® Perk Filter™ Media Filtration Device, the FloGard® Dual-Vortex Hydrodynamic Separator (DVS), and the FloGard+ Plus® Catch Basin Insert Filter.  Americast will also provide precasting services to KriStar for other markets in the Eastern part of the US.

KriStar Enterprises, Inc., based in Santa Rosa, California, will be the exclusive distributor in California of Americast’s Filterra®  Bioretention Systems products (Filterra®, Filterra® Roof Drain, Filterra® Street Tree, and Bacterra®).  KriStar    will manufacture, market, sell and service the products, integrating KriStar’s unique pre-filter chamber and by-pass features when requested.

The two companies will provide additional regional manufacturing services for each other, as well.  Production on both coasts means that many major markets will now fall within the 500-mile radius designated for LEED credit MRc5 Regional Materials, defined as materials that are extracted, harvested, and manufactured within 500 miles of the project site.

“Both companies make very effective products,” commented Beatty, “but this strategic alliance is about more than just physical resources.  Our people and their expertise are an equally valuable resource.  By sharing that strength with our customers, we will enhance our respective abilities to provide effective solutions to our customers and ultimately for the environment.”

Americast, Inc. is a leading supplier of precast concrete solutions in the mid-Atlantic region.  The company specializes in the design and manufacturing of a complete line of concrete pipe and precast products for commercial and residential applications.  Concrete precast structures include reinforced pipe, manhole components, box culverts, fittings, and drainage structures.  Americast is committed to providing quality solutions for your precast needs.

Founded in 1993, KriStar Enterprises, Inc. is a leading manufacturer of storm water management products that address the control of pollutants from storm water runoff, from the beginning of construction to the installation of permanent control devices, to their ongoing maintenance.  Committed to continuing to provide innovative storm water solutions throughout the United States, KriStar offers a complete “treatment train” approach.

Filterra Bioretention Systems

Filterra Stormwater Bioretention Filtration System – The Urban Solution for LID

The standard Filterra system is similar in concept to bioretention in it’s function and applications but has been optimized for high volume/flow treatment and high pollutant removal.  Its small footprint allows it to be used on highly developed sites such as landscaped areas, parking lots and treescapes.  Filterra is exceedingly adaptable and can be used alone or in combination with other BMPs.

Filterra Curb Inlet with Internal Bypass- Combining Stormwater Treatment with Internal Peak Flow Bypass in One Packaged Design

The Filterra Curb Inlet with Internal Bypass system incorporates biofiltration and an internal high flow bypass chamber into one single structure.  This new system eliminates the need and cost of installing a separate bypass structure and enables placement on grade or at low points.  The system is designed for decentralized treatment of stormwater runoff and meets Low Impact Development guidelines in most jurisdictions.

Bacterra Media Blend – Optimized Filterra Media Blend for Bacteria Removal

Adverse economic and public health impacts are on the rise due to increasing bacterial contamination of our swimmable and fishable waters from urban runoff.  In response to this growing problem, Filterra Bioretention Systems has developed Bacterra media blend, an effective stormwater treatment technology for removal of bacteria from urban runoff.  Designed to treat bacteria at the source, Bacterra can help meet local TMDLs, and reduce public health threats and sources of bacteria to beaches and rivers.

The Stormwater Opportunity

Until relatively recently, water runoff was encouraged to flow, channeled away from developed properties as quickly and efficiently as possible.  Now, for sustainability and regulatory reasons, as much of it as possible must be retained and treated onsite.
